Total Concentration

Room 4 learning about POTENTIAL (stored) and KINETIC (moving) ENERGY and what happens when masses of varying sizes collide.

Lots of scientific language, observing, accurate measuring and recording required to acquire data for analysis.  ....    And then we were allowed to try out our own variations !   This led to even more exciting learning.

Plenty of budding scientists in room 4 ... great thinking everyone.

Having Fun With Your Peepers !

Some Room 15 students exploring lenses as part of a LIGHT ENERGY focus:
Convex and concave lenses, microscoping lenses, focal length,
their use as a vision aid plus many other common uses in our everyday lives.

Oh, the excitement of seeing things larger than life !!!

Newton's Cradle Is Popular

Nicole is fascinated, as is everyone, by the many ways you can explore 'FORCE and ENERGY' by using Newton's Cradle.

We found out that gravitational potential (stored) energy turns to kinetic (moving) energy when the balls are released and swing.

Energy is transferred through collision of the metal balls and the momentum (conservation of energy) keeps the potential  /  kinetic relationship going for quite a while.
Eventually the system comes to a stop due to heat and friction which means energy is lost from the cradle itself.
