What is Happening in Science Tech in Term 2 ?
Science Technology
This term our science classes are studying aspects of the Physical World … in
particular ‘how things move and why they move’.
Within the 4 FORCES, students will study: gravity, friction, static electricity, magnetism, light,
and how energy is transferred to other forms of energy.
We will test the properties, of each of the forces we study, and learn how they affect our
lives, help us survive on Planet Earth and affect the technologies we use.
Important foci are:
To Investigate science ideas … through experimentation.
To develop an understanding of key concepts … improving science literacy.
Thinking Scientifically to express their learning … explaining the Why / Because in all our
observations and asking great questions … being curious.
To become more aware of the Nature of Science … it’s changeability as man learns more
about the world.
Imperative is that students practise good study habits in class:
Listening to others, Observing carefully, Thinking, Following instructions, Recording
accurately, Reviewing learning, Sharing and Challenging Ideas, and Talking the science.
Our groups have made a great start in their science learning this term.
